I am setting up a new website - I set the country location to Canada and it is recommending to set up Wix Payments as the payment provider. The last I knew, Canada was not currently one of the countries that can use Wix Payments - when I go to check the list, it still does not list Canada. So, why is it recommending Wix Payments? I don’t want to fill in the banking info, etc. if it is not going to work. Does anyone know if it is now offered for Canadian businesses and that the list is just not updated yet? Thanks in advance for any insights
Hi Tamara, just checked in with our team, and yes. Wix Payments is now offered in Canada. Like you’ve noticed, we’re still working on updating our articles. You’re good to set it up though!
Great! Thank you for the update.
You’re welcome!
I just want to post an update on this. My client gave the go-ahead to proceed with setting up Wix Payments. I set them up on the site so they can complete the details on the Wix Payment account setup, however, they could not see Wix Payments as an option like I could on my account.
In contacting Wix, I learned that this has not rolled out for all of Canada and that only certain accounts have the ability to use Wix Payments in Canada at this time. They were unable to provide details of which Wix Accounts currenlty have access to Wix Payments.
So, it appears that I can set up Wix Payments on the site under my account but that I can only transfer the site to my client’s Account if/when Wix Payments rolls out nationally, for it to work on their account.
So be aware, if you are creating websites for Canadian companies, just because your Wix account may indicate that Wix Payments is an option, it may not be an option for your client when you transfer the site to their account.
