Thank you sir @josetoothfairy for also highlighting this extremely basic problem that even Wix should have prioritised as the first objective. There are many mediocre builders out there which even can’t come close to WIX awesomeness in terms of design, fluidity, affordability and simplicity but funny enough their websites are literally 3x faster than Wix sites, which is quite surprising considering the perks Wix provides over them.
Hopefully Wix executes and management can have a look at this THREAD and at least just make fix their slow loading speed issue.
It has been reported all over the forum by numerous people, so this is not an issue about a single website BUT this is on WIX hosting side.
@josetoothfairy don’t leave …let’s give them this month as they said, at least we should see increased speeds that can compete with Webflow or Wordpress loading speeds. If not l will also be forced to migrate over to Webflow but l really really love building awesome websites for my client’s using WIX .
I am sorry, but I am not wasting anymore precious time. I understand the loyalty to Wix, but when you look out into the real world, no pro developers end up using Wix because of all these issues. How long have Lightboxes been out? 3 years? and they haven’t been fast at all. When @brett stated a new estimate (end of September) above, even he isn’t sure of it. ( “HOPEFULLY (don’t hold me to this!)” )
For the sake of my business and clients, it is time to move on. I remember reading a post a while ago called “Why I am Leaving Wix” where it was a long article. The person compared it to Webflow, and as much as I hate for it to be true, he was spot on correct. Webflow has some amazing features that Wix doesn’t offer, like accessing the site code that it produces (Javascript, Html, CSS etc) With the ability to access the CSS Stylesheet, I can put in all these new design elements without waiting for Wix to implement it over the months and years. With Webflow, I am not even locked into their hosting. I can just export the code to wherever my client is happy with (even Wordpress). I can now build actual powerful web apps that are robust and I can plug them in with pro tools such as Amazon AWS or Google Firebase etc. This is all after 2 days of research. I’m astonished by this service as it was only launched in 2013 and it is yet so powerful. Wix has a long while to catch up.
@ramaramsy I highly suggest you research and figure out what is best for your business. If your happy with the simplicity and limitation of Wix, you can stay. Webflow is quite a learning curve and is not as simple to use as Wix, but w=once we get good at it, we can build some amazing sites. I mean, look at this site https://airpods-pro.webflow.io/. This guy literally rebuilt the AirPods Pro Apple website on Webflow. Can’t do that on Wix! But i think Webflow will help me and you excel in the future. I will probably move all my client sites over to Webflow. It will be a big task, but worth it.
Thank you Wix again for the past 5 years of site building!
@josetoothfairy We had someone in our community build Apple’s Website on Editor X: https://tobymcdowell.editorx.io/apple He didn’t use all of the capabilities of Editor X, like some of the ones used in your example, but his still looked great.
I get your points - and I’m sorry I can’t provide you with a more detailed outline of the speed roll-out. Things don’t always go as planned for development/roll-out purposes… and sometimes that’s good (faster releases) and sometimes it’s bad (slower releases).
I wish you the best with whatever platform you choose. Nonetheless, we’ll be here when you get ready to come back.
so @jose Martinez you are moving to Webflow? l didn’t know you can export code that can be used on WordPress and AWS let me also join you on the journey to Webflow seems like a good deal overall… l will start a gradual process of moving my clients… I just checked the link that you sent and l have to admit it’s beautiful and loads 2x faster than Wix… it’s sad to say goodbye to Wix but we were left with no choice but to say Goodbye
The load times in the UK are terrible. I have over 100 sires and none of them have improved. Looks like we will be the last to get the update…as usual. Also I have still not received any profit share and i have the maximum amount of points. After over 3 years with Wix maybe its time for a change.
@brett hopefully you forward this thread to Wix developers/Executives… as you can see such a basic, fundamental issue such as loading speed shouldn’t be a topic of discussion and sadly partners are migrating to Webflow due to this very basic first hand issue
@brett Yes, this user did build a great replica of Apple. However, I was highlighting the advanced scroll animation capabilities on the product pages, such as AirPods Pro pages. Building the Apple home page is simple as its just static images and text… I could even build the Apple homepage on the normal Wix Editor!
I am sorry too. You have been great @brett . I really to appreciated your work here at the Wix Forum. I understand the roll out issues. Thank you for your kind wishes.
@ramaramsy Yeah, it will take time to learn Webflow as it is pretty complicated comapred to Wix, but again, more powerful. Do some research into it yourself. There is a plugin for Webflow on Wordpress so you can build sites with Webflow, but if your client likes Wordpress better, you can easily, transfer the site to Wordpress. Have a browse on the Webflow website for the details. I had a look, and professional companies like Zendesk, Adobe, Dell, Lattice etc use Webflow. It seems promising!?
This is incredibly amazing just saw it… also the ability to import a WordPress website, export a Webflow website to WordPress and finally their speeds are incredibly fast the only popping downside of Webflow that l have seen reviewers commenting on it is the pricing is roughly 5 times more than WordPress since you can get WordPress websites hosting for as low as 4 dollars a month… minimum package on Webflow is 12 dollars right? correct me if am wrong
@ramaramsy Pricing is still better value than Wix! For the sophisticated software, it is great value compared to Wordpress.
Thanks for the thoughts and honest conversation here everyone. Closing this up - I think everyone got to make their points.
