Hello,it’s with a sad note that some of my clients are complaining that their Wix websites are too slow to load consequently l even have one client who wants me to look for another CMS a rather than Wix to host his online store.
What is Wix doing to address that problem since l have seen other users complain both on Wix forums, Facebook page, Youtube Channels and also reviewers stating that slow loading speed, is the biggest con of using Wix despite it’s unmatched design capability that it provides.
Anyone who has an idea what Wix is doing to improve on that slowness that is experienced in loading websites?
Hi Ramsey,
We just announced upcoming speed and performance updates. You can rewatch the discussion here .
I think those updates are more of " Wix will… “, than “WIX has””
Has those performance updates been applied or released to all wix websites?? I think they are still working on it. I am sure, any info on the current status of this speed improvement project shall be greatly valued by all.
@dee4charlotte hi! Although we have not provided a status of the sites that have experienced this update, there have been several who have noticed a significant improvement in website speed! Thank you for the feedback, I’ll pass it on.
Thanks for the insights. Maybe it’s being done in phase and some of us are yet to experience.
@dee4charlotte Correct, it’s a gradual rollout, so stay tuned
I really don’t get it. What performance update?
Wix websites are really slow. Respecting all standards for speed optimisation, my 2 sites made with Wix have very poor desktop and mobile speed test results. All complaints and inquires I made to Wix had the same answers from the consultants: you have poor internet connection and your sites are not optimized. Both answers are very wrong.
What should we, the paying plans customers, do to improve our very slow loading sites made with Wix? Move to another platform?
… and https://www.wix.com/turbo/home is a joke. It says that visitors interact with my site in an excellent loading time of 3.6 s. This time is not excellent, but all the other tools available for measuring the speed loading time show an awful loading time speed around 9 s.
Hi there,
Did you watch the discussion? The team goes over the upgrades as well as shows a demo. Here’s the link - I think it would be very valuable for you.
This is quite true l have roughly over 7 websites build with WIX but sadly although l didn’t want to do it, 2 of my clients forced me to move their e-commerce from Wix due to loading speeds and l had to move to Shopify for all my e-commerce clients .The rest who are remaining are still complaining of their sites loading slower than other sites which have even lesser design attractiveness.
Sheyla, I did watch the discussion. I am not new here on Wix. Still no changes, just promises. If I may quote a member who wrote here earlier: “ I think those updates are more of " Wix will… “, than “WIX has”” .
@ovidiup76
Many have already seen improvements - as the rollout is gradual based on a few factors (such as component, geo) you may not see a change (yet).
@sheyla
May I ask you: what means improvements many have already seen? What speed loading score they had before the improvements and what score do they get now? Documented cases if you have. Excuse me, but if you don’t, then your post is simply advertising. So many people have complaints about the awful speed loading time of Wix sites.
@ovidiup76 Speed is an issue and Wix is working on it. It isn’t Wix will, it’s Wix is.
I reached out to Sivan today to check and see how the progress is going. It is going well, she said - And also she is expecting this to be rolled out to everyone HOPEFULLY (don’t hold me to this!) by the end of September. That’s the trajectory right now - but again - don’t hold me to it.
Also keep in mind this is rolled out component by component. Some components might increase their speed before others. Example: Photo gallery may be 100% rolled out, but not the blog. So some areas may be faster than others for a time, but we are continually working on this. It’s in a roll-out phase, not a develop phase.
Thanks for the update. Hopeful about Lightbox speed.
Awesome it’s better little improvements than no improvements at all
I think I will leave Wix.com. Unfortunately I have unhappy clients about their site speed. I will have to move to Webflow as it is better value. I really love Wix, but I have no choice
At the rate at which Wix releases updates and features, it will take years before it (and Editor X) reaches the level of more professional like Wordpress or Webflow etc.
Thank you Wix for all the years of site building. I am sad to leave the family.
Well Jose, I’m definitely sad to see you go. Wix releases features pretty quickly; we just recently announced the speed boost that’s coming. I hope you change your mind!
@brett I am sorry, but my clients are unhappy. I did some research and the number 1 reason why people don’t use Wix is slow site speed! Second is responsiveness (now an issue fixed by Editor X). Third SEO (mostly fixed). I think Wix neglecting site speed for so long has now caught up. It doesn’t suffice and does not look professional.
I recently signed up to the Webflow Forum and I had a conversation with a developer. I was talking about the simpleness of Editor X, and he replied " Bottom line is, if it is slow, it is not good! It’s ok if you go easy over speed for your own site, but I would not touch it for client work. "
Sivan stated in the Round table that it would be released estimated at end of July. Now you have estimated end of September. It will probably take even longer, as you said its a roll out for certain components. I cannot wait any longer My clients will leave me.
I’m not sure how many times myself and the rest of the Partners can reiterate nicely how important this is. Additionally, the numerous times I contacted Support about this issue, they always seemed to blame me for not “optimizing” is enough, and stating it is not Wix’s fault. Then they referred me to the Turbo test which is very inaccurate. Frankly, Wix should drop all other projects, and all devs should work on site speed.
Sadly, the time has come, Brett. I want to personally thank you for your commitment to the Wix Forum. You are a much appreciated person in the partner community and I enjoyed you hosting the Partner Videos and Round Tables. It’s been a great journey.
