Managing Complex Integrations During Wix Editor to Wix Studio Migration

Hello Wix community,

I’m about to design a new site for a client in Wix Studio. Their current site, built with Wix Editor, must remain live and fully functional throughout the entire process. The existing site uses Wix Bookings, manages subscriptions, and hosts member data through its membership portal.

For the new site, we’ll be integrating the SubscriptionFlow app for advanced membership management, allowing users to upgrade and downgrade subscription tiers—a feature not natively supported in Wix.

In the past, for clients without such a significant focus on subscriptions and account pages, I’ve designed in my own Wix Studio account and transferred the site later. However, this feels like a different use case given the complexity of their integrations and member data.

I’m considering two approaches and need advice on which would be smoother and more efficient:

  1. Designing in my own Wix Studio account and transferring the site to the client later, at which point they’d upgrade to Wix Studio. After transfer, I’d handle integrations (SubscriptionFlow, Bookings, member migration, etc.).
  2. Having the client upgrade to Wix Studio now and designing directly in their account.

Key Questions:

  • If the client upgrades to Wix Studio, will their current Wix Editor site remain live and editable during the design process?
  • Would designing directly in their account streamline the integration of apps like SubscriptionFlow and simplify member data migration?

While designing in their account seems beneficial for replicating their current setup and handling migrations, I want to ensure their site stays live and that the process is as seamless as possible.

Has anyone navigated a similar situation? What are the best practices for transitioning a Wix Editor site to Wix Studio while maintaining site functionality and minimizing disruption?

I appreciate any insights or experiences you can share. Thanks!
