I have a Business Unlimited plan for years. I tried migrating to the Editor X plan a few times but got frustrated trying to migrate over - plus time was a factor. I see the WIX Studio is where I want to be but have no clue how to best migrate over my old site under WIX’s first format - and go to Studio. Also, what fees get applied to the new format? I have three year plan that I just renewed. I’m I better off hiring someone? I don’t know. It’s a time versus cost decision but I would like help in forming a strategy. I know what I want. Just not sure how to get it done. Once problem with you past instructions and even your roll-out event yesterday is that you use terminology sometimes that YOU have defined within your space but users do not always know those definitions. It’s a real communication gap the the tech world (and other industries) have. Seeking help in Chicago.
Hey @kevin !
Wix Studio has definitely made the experience of building responsive sites a whole lot more intuitive.
At the moment, there’s no tool to migrate sites over to Wix Studio, but the teams are aware of how important it is. In a few months time, you’ll be able to migrate Editor X sites will seamlessly be migrated over to Studio.
In the meantime, this article should give you some more details about pricing - Wix Studio: Upgrading Sites to Premium | Help Center | Wix.com
Let me know if you have any questions
Hey Noah, so you mentioned it will be possible to migrate Editor X to Wix studio but not Wix editor to Studio. Will this be possible at any point? I have no problem in redoing my sites from scratch but I would wan’t to miss all my sales data nor what I already paid for Wix Editor. Please make this happen somehow! I really want to leave wix editor behind but you are not making it easy, and we are the customers who already have a Wix site, it should be easier for us than for new customers but it’s not even complicated, it’s just impossible apparently. Wix studio is amazing, let us use it with our old sites please.
This is a great question. I’ve just asked and will let you know as soon as I hear something
Thank you Noah! Ill be waiting
This is also something I’m interested in as most of my sites are build on the normal Wix Editor. Any information about the timeline for when the migration feature will be added is welcome.
@eugeniagarat @djchen1290 To answer the question about migration from the classic editor to Wix Studio Editor, the team knows how important it would be to have this ability and is exploring how this might work.
That being said, the current focus is ensuring there is a seamless transition between Editor X and Wix Studio. There is currently no ETA, for moving classic sites to Wix Studio and I’m not committing to it being guaranteed. However, I’ll be sure to take your question as a request
Hey @noahlovell ! How much of a difference is there actually between EditorX and Wix Studio? I am currently building a website with many hours devoted to it in EditorX, it would be frustrating to find out that Wix Studio would unlock more features but not having an option to migrate to Wix Studio right away.
Sorry but you’re a web designer and a web designer never migrates but rebuilds.
You learn by rebuilding, you don’t learn anything by migrating.
@jeffreygillespie18 You said it yourself ‘web designer’ not developer. So it makes all the more sense for tools for designers to migrate when there is a new version (which is actually planned to roll out later). The point of a tool like this is to A) reduce development labor to either save time if you are a developer or B) to empower designers.
@jeffreygillespie18 Yeah but if wix upgraded 1 platform instead of launching 3 different platforms that offer the same service but better, then we wouldn’t have this problem. Making it harder for old customers shouldn’t be an option, wix editor shouldn’t exist anymore. I even wouldn’t be mad at rebuilding if that didn’t mean loosing years of sales data (no I don’t wan’t the spreadsheets I can download I need the data in my dashboard). Not very efficient I would say. Also who is here to learn? I’m here to use a service I pay for in it’s best version possible .
@noahlovell - Do you have information about when a migrate might happen from EditorX to Wix Studio? (help mentions ‘eventually’ without clear timings).
Would love to find out to be able to plan options in working with Wix.
Hey @vineshgayadin!
At the moment, I don’t have a clear ETA to share, but as soon as I do, I’ll be sure to share
Is it possible to migrate from wix editor to editor x and then to future wix studio migration? as a workaround maybe?
The Wix editor to Editor X function didn’t really work that well, which I’m guessing is why they don’t want to give a timefrane for the editor over to studio.
wix studio beta is frustrating. after a hole day testing I found a lot missing features and the most frustrating part is the missing roadmap with deadlines.
We here in the community don’t even know if Wix Studio will be usable this year or next year. Wix Studio beta is very disappointing for me.
Thanks @noahlovell !
Following! Can we vote for this?
Yep!
There’s an open Feature Request here - Editor X Request: Migrating a Site from Editor X to the Studio Editor | Help Center | Wix.com
It’s not the same, it’s from wix editor to Studio editor, not from editor X. Can we vote for this?
