Max width setting ignored (at least in preview)

I’m having trouble with
The max width setting.

What I’m trying to do
Max width is set to 1600px for the entire site and the setting is active. Nontheless the preview (in the editor as well as website) sjhows me the page expanded to full widht (a 5k 27” screen).

What I’ve tried so far
Tried to switch on and of the setting and tired other max width measures - without success

It’s worth double checking that it is also applied to the section - you may have disabled it?

When in preview, have you used the handles to expand the canvas and see how it responds?

Thanks, Noah, after disabling and re-enabling the section settings, it worked.
