'More' items in style horizontal menu (editorX)

I’m still very new to Wix, I switched months ago to editorX and now having an issue with menus.

My desktop navigation menu used to hide pages behind a ‘more’ link, it was nicely responsive and better than either wrapping or scrolling.

I somehow managed to delete that menu and I’ve tried creating various new menus but can’t find any that have the ‘more’ option.

I see a reference here: https://support.wix.com/en/article/wix-editor-renaming-the-more-item-in-your-menu but I’m wondering whether this might not be a menu option I add in editorX.

Am I missing something? If it cannot be added in editorX is there a workaround to temporarily switch back to the classic editor?

you need to use custom submenu solution for this, please see the example:

Thanks Andrew, but what you show is a different behavior.

I’m not wanting to permanently hide menu options behind the MORE menu, I’m wanting something that responsively adapts based on screen width.

This is only needed for desktop.

What I used to have and now cannot replicate is that a menu of 10 items would show perhaps 2 items + MORE for the narrowest screens and then as the screen got wider it would progressively show more items, such as 3 + MORE and then 4+ MORE, etc. With a very wide screen it would show all 10 items.

Sadly I can’t demonstrate it any longer, I’m just working from memory.

I’ve run into a few oddities where something doesn’t work the same with EditorX and I’m suspicious this is one of them.

in this case you can add as much items as you want on the largest breakpoints and set menu sizing to Fluid, please see the example, hope this is the behavior you are referring to:

Hi there.

You might already know this, but one workaround for having different behaviours is to duplicate the relevant page and amend it to look and work in the way that you want rergarding the menu.

The duplicate can then be set to do not display on all breakpoints except the desktop one. The original can be set to not display on the desktop one only.

This way, you effectively quarantine the amended page so that it does not mess things up on other breakpoints.

I see @andrew-taran-wix 's video didn’t share but that behavior is automatic if the menu is set to a fluid size @wixcomm . The menu’s size will be based on the screensize and if content won’t fit, then it will move to more.

Thank you Roberto! That’s exactly what I was looking for.

In my experimenting I had switched to a horizontal menu, so I needed to replace with a new basic menu and then the responsive ‘more’ option started working. I also then could use the layout menu to unselect the “all items are the same size” option and I now can have 10 menu items that appear if the user has a wide browser, and they gracefully collapse into fewer and fewer options with the hidden options hiding under the ‘more’.

Thanks so much for taking the time with the video!
