Question:
When I check my sitemap at mywebsite…/sitemap.xml it seems to be incomplete (i.e. it doesn’t seem to show a list of all my website pages). I also get shown an error message at the top, This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.. Can anyone advise why this is? I didn’t change any site level setting when I was designing my site so I am not sure why this has happened or if it is actually normal? It is the sitemap that Wix site builder has configured.
Thanks
This message appears since Wix does not provide any Styling Options for the Sitemap Page. Meaning the Sitemap is shown in Plain XML. Since the Search Engine Crawlers don’t care about Styling, it’s ok.
Thanks valentin_wackermedia. Would you have any thoughts on why the site map itself does not seem to list each of my 34+ pages? I always was under the impression a sitemap should list each page of the site in a structured list.
Well that depends.
→ If these sites are regular Pages (not dynamic) you’ll have to turn on “Let search engines index this site” on each site.
Step 1 in this Article may help you to do that:
→ If the Sites are dynamic pages the main XML File (Sitemap) will be split into multiple Sub-Sitemaps, which you should be able to see. If not, you’ll also have to enable the “Let search engines index this site” for the dynamic pages, as described in this article:
Hope that helps
