Newbie needs some help

I am brand new to Wix. I have been a GoDaddy partner for ever and they have sunk to a new level of poor.

I design and implement sites for my customers. Recently I had a situation where a new client wanted a sampling of a website prior to contracting me. In the past, I have been able to create a temp site on GoDaddy without specifying and purchasing a dedicated URL.

That is no longer the case as GoDaddy has eliminated the free sites for partners to do beta work. I now have to force my customer to buy a dedicated URL and that is the only way I can make a website – even as a beta site. Sometimes a customer wants to design but is not 100% certain of the URL. I can no longer help them.

If I create a website under one of my other accounts I have no way of migrating the beta site once the customer chooses their URL and opts to secure my services.

I have been exploring Wix and am in the partner program. I am still confused between the standard editor and the Studio product. Seems the studio has limited templates and I love all the templates in the standard program. Is it easy and free to migrate a beta site to a new URL without cost and limited effort?

So dissapointed in GoDaddy. On the plus side of GoDaddy, they are as low as $5.00/month for their Web Builder and they will bill my customer and do all the tech support if I wish at no charge.

Bottom line – which way to go… Input and suggestions needed.

Thanks,

Jerry

Hi User2528

First of all I’d like to address the difference between the Studio Editor and the regular Editor. The main difference between the two ist responsiveness. While the regular editor is quite responsive (fixed design for PC, Tablet, Mobile) the studio editor is fully responsive, meaning you can work with percentages, VW,VH,etc.

With every free Wix Website you create you get a free Wix-Domain which will automatically be connected to that site. As soon as you’re ready to upgrade you can either purchase a Domain directly with Wix or connect one from another provider. You can also change domains on a live website fairly easy.

Also there’s the option for Test-Sites:

But why sell standard templates to paying customers?? That’s not the point of the predesigned templates!! They are for non professionals who want to create a Website on their own, not agencies or freelancers. (fyi I’m not talking about the Wireframe-Templates).
