I was shocked to find out that Pokémon names in the English version are completely different from the Japanese ones. :innocent:

Although I always prefer watching anime in Japanese with English subtitles, I never saw OG Pokemon in Japanese… I will check out now!!

Yeah, I ended up looking through the Pokédex for about an hour, haha. :innocent: It brought back so many memories. I’ve only played up to the Sapphire version, but even so, I had a great time—thanks for that. Some Pokémon have the same names in Japanese and English, while others are completely different. There are definitely a few where I’m like, “Why did they change that!?”

I guess it’s because if they used the original names in English, they might end up sounding like nonsense—or worse, something inappropriate. Still, I personally think Rapidash should’ve just been called Gallop. I mean, “gallop” is an English word too, and it would’ve fit just fine. :kissing_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Also, I got a good laugh out of how Abra evolves into Kadabra. In Japanese, Abra is called “Cayce” — maybe inspired by Edgar Cayce — but overseas, they went with “Abra.” :innocent: I didn’t know that before. but, that’s a cool idea too. :+1:

Lastly, let me introduce a few of the partners who traveled with me back when I was still a Pokémon Master — just three of them.

I guess I really liked the flying ones… my younger self!

Thanks to the V-Blog Pokédex, I learned that Rayquaza weighs only 206.5 kg. Honestly, back when I was a Pokémon Master, I thought it weighed around 1,200 tons. :upside_down_face:

P.S.

Lastly, since this is the Wix forum, I’ll mention something Wix-related just in case. When scrolling to update the Pokédex, the screen flickers. Is there any plan to fix this?
