I have recently developed a website for a client www.residencefunerairebellavance.com and while the site works well on most devices, he is getting 3-4 calls/day that the site is very slow to load on older models of ipads that have not updated their IOS. It will eventually load but it takes a very long time and many trials. The full menu is not visible at first and when a page loads you only see part of the header. Then all of a sudden, it loads and everything works great?! The clientele is mostly seniors and we simply cannot explain to each of them that their ios version is too old. I am including a video to show the problem and welcome your suggestions to remedy this situation. Thanks!
It was exactly the same with my website originally when some members complained about websites being slow on their desktop browsers and it is all down to their choice of browser as they were not using edge, chrome or firefox and still using internet explorer.
The same with the mobile version of the website, on all my phones and most other members mobile devices which are both Andriod and Apple, the website loads up fast, however as in your case, with members having older type devices and not being able to, or possibly don’t want to update, their mobile operating version, then they are ultimately going to get a slower loading website.
For example, on Samsung Galaxy the website loads up fine on a S7 Edge, however it is slow loading on an S5, with the same applying to Apple devices too, the older the device, the slower the load time.
Plus, remember to add in that not everybody will be on the latest technology too, so some members will still possibly be using 3g and not 4g on their devices and likewise at home, they might only be on a slower copper broadband connection at home with their own wifi off of their own home network too.
Also, with 5G already coming in mobile devices this year and next year too, all newer devices will be getting much quicker than older devices currently are. So, unless members upgrade then they are always going to be stuck with the load speeds of whatever their current device is.
If they will not, or don’t want to update to the latest version, then why not try this so at least they know the site is working whilst it is loading up.
