Question:
I’m just wondering if I’m missing something or would like to find out what other people are doing in this situation.
Say I have an image or PDF file that is shown or linked to from a few different places in my Wix Studio website. Say, in the footer (in the case of a PDF file), on a page, in a product and in a blog post.
After a while I realise I need to update the image or PDF file because there is more info, (ie a new version or updated image). The filename is EXACTLY the same as the current file in my site files.
Is there a way to just upload the new file and replace the old one so all the links and instances where that file is shown will now reference the new version. After some research it looks like I have to find every place it’s referenced and then change the link, image manually - is that correct?
Any help on this would be handy.
Thanks

You’re correct - currently it requires finding and updating these links manually. But I also think this is a good idea, and would find it useful on a few sites
Worth opening a feature request for it here - Product Roadmap
Thankyou. I have filled in the form

Yes, I also think this feature would be so incredibly helpful. The Media Replace plugin on Wordpress is my favorite plugin and is used constantly in my sites for this exact type of usecase as well as many others. Please add this feature!
The feature required is NOT to update all links on a given site. The feature request is to replace the file at a specific URL and have that URL reference the NEW file. This is because, for example, links to a slide show were distributed to a wide audience and the slide show has been corrected. We want people to get the corrected/updated version and not have to notify them that the URL has changed - a) they might not notice another email and b) they might have shared the link with others.
