Resizing elements glitch?

I’ve enjoyed editor X so far but have found an annoying glitch when resizing elements using the box around it (not sure of the specific name here, but similar to the box that’s around an object in illustrator, or an image in word, for example)

I click on the elements and go to resize it a couple of pixels to the right, when I click and drag, it automatically maximises the size of the element on the right hand side - but doesn’t do the same on the left side.

I assume its just a setting I’ve made by accident, but cannot find anyway to reset it, have googled, YouTube’d, cleared cache and so on, please help.

Also, another new problem which I can’t seem to fix - my layers panel when opened takes up the whole VW of the page. Before - and I prefer it this way, it used to only take up 20% or some of the page VW allowing me to be able to view the site while selecting, naming and reordering layers
