Seeking help for a COVID-19 Related Wix Website

Dear all, I hope everybody is staying safe out there. I am molecular biologist based in NYC.

I am seeking some guidance for a WIX website I am helping curate as a volunteer. It’s a COVID-19 related database of medical publications, that we (MD students and scientist of NYU School of Medicine) digest and present in an easy concise and standard way for frontline workers with few spare time.

We created a WIX website and we are very happy. In order to future proof the website I implemented a database function of all our records (we were importing them one by one before) with repeaters and dynamic pages to display content.

I would need some guidance to implement two particular functions that need coding. I know there are examples out there, but I would need a more step-by-step help while I start reading the CORVID tutorials. The two areas of interest are:

  • Implement a search function for our database, to pull single entries from repeaters. The search would use either keywords, tags or specific fields. In our current website we have a single page for every entry so that the search function works.

  • We use table of contents that contains anchors to specific entries (when organized one by one in a page). After I shifted to repeaters, I am not sure how I can replace this function.

Again, I know that these things can be tackled by coding and there are related, but I would LOVE if someone could assist me or point me to the right direction while I try to figure the language out.

Hi,
Check out this article about adding search functionality for your site.
Adding anchor functionality for repeaters is a bit more complicated, you need to use the $ item in the repeaters onItemReady () function and there set an onClick event for the TOC button with scrollTo ().

Hi Or!!! Thank you very much!! I was actually able to add the search functionality with results displayed in a table. Worked great, those tutorials are really perfect and I get to understand and learn the structure of the code.

I was trying to step it up a notch and try to display results in a new repeater… would you happen to have some suggestions or article/posts on that?
