Sorting dataset alphabetically doesn't appear on repeater

Hi all,

Have searched for this issue on the forum and can’t find an exact match.

I’ve created a repeater which is synced to a dataset. Even though I’ve sorted the data in the dataset A to Z (which is how I want to displayed in the repeater), on the repeater it always displays according to the last one created in the dataset; i.e., the latest dataset entry is at the top of the repeater.

So it displays perfectly alphabetically A-Z in the dataset, but not in the actual repeater. Apologies if I’m not doing something that’s very obvious here, but I’ve tried everything (deleted and re-doing the ‘create sort’ on both sandbox and live datasets) but nothing changes the order in the actual repeater.

Thanks for any help!

Rob

I’ve also made sure I’ve synced the sandbox to the ‘live’ dataset; which appears on the table alphabetically for a moment, but never appears alphabetically on the actual repeater.

I have exactly the same problem. We have a repeater page which is supposed to list details of events in the order in which they occur from newest to oldest sorted by a date field in the dataset. But whatever we do, they insist on appearing in the order of creation which is a complete jumble. I have synced the sandbox and the live database, I have defined several datasets, I have reconnected it several times and nothing works. Is this actually functioning or have I just missed some glaringly obvious thing I have to do ?

You should ask your own question instead of dredging up a year old post…

Did you set the the sort in your dataset:

Yes. I followed the instructions to the letter. Sort Index is a numeric user-defined field to enable us to manually adjust the order.

I solved this problem by realising you had to also click on the actual dataset icon on your page (see attached), go to ‘settings’ and then choose ‘add sort’ from there. I was always clicking on the actual repeater or the sandbox/live dataset contents pages to do this, hence it never worked

. Hope this helps.

Hi Robert
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I do appreciate it.
Unfortunately I had already done that but it had no effect.
:disappointed_relieved:
I >>know<< that this is going to be something tediously trivial, so any other ideas, please feel free to share

Hi Robert - it WAS something tediously trivial - the original page author (not me) had put a second dataset link in right down the bottom of the page.
As the great philosopher Homer - Simpson that is - would have said:
“D’oh”
