Swapping out a current site with a new one questions

I have a premium wix store which I threw together quickly to get the product off the ground. Since then I have been working on a separate site that is more professional, I want to swap out the old site with the new one, I have seen the option however how will this affect the SEO and google search etc etc, pretty much all the stuff that has been building up on the old site in the background whilst its been live?

Product:
Wix Studio Pro

What are you trying to achieve:
I want to swap out a Wix site that I have been working on to an already established site

When swapping your old Wix Store with the new site, you’ll want to preserve SEO and ranking by properly redirecting pages. In Wix Studio Pro, go to SEO Settings > 301 Redirects and set up redirects from the old URLs to the corresponding new pages. Ensure the new site has the same or improved meta titles, descriptions, and alt text. Keep the same domain to retain authority, and submit the updated sitemap to Google Search Console. Also, update Google My Business and backlinks pointing to your old site. For a smooth transition, keep both sites live briefly, then monitor Google Search Console for indexing issues.

How long ago did you publish the first site?

Days? Weeks? Or are we talking months and years?

If it’s only been a few days or weeks ——- you probably don’t have any significant organic ranking just yet so there is nothing to worry about.

If you do have significant ranking, any design changes have a chance at impacting SEO —— even if the change had been done on the original site. So expect some sort of impact either way.

Take the opportunity to make the same URL endings, audit your page element hierarchy (H1,H2, etc) and possibly implementing schema markup (especially since you have an ecommerce site).

Unfortunately, your Wix Stores analytics, sales and other historical data doesn’t transfer over. So after you connect your domain to your new website be sure not to delete the old website.
