Hi
I have a site where visitors can search in a gallery of products, every day I update the status of the products available.
Is there a way that when I’m (role = Admin) updating the database, for all visitors logging in to the page or currently on the page, a page (box?, lightbox?) opens with some text info on ‘Whe are currently updating the data’ or something like that?
I’ve tried to do this with a box or lightbox, but it only appears in my window. If somebody else on another computer visits the site, they can still see the whole content.
Why bother with the role option, just add it as a simple lightbox that will pop up on that page either straight away or after a timed delay.
The only people who will be able to see it is the users who are logged on anyway, so you don’t need the role option etc.
Just remember that you can work on your site with datasets and save it multiple times in the sandbox mode all the time whilst users are viewing your existing site. It is only after you have published your site does it then become live to all users with your changes made.
Plus, if you have this lightbox come active when you log into the Editor to change it, then the page that viewers are on needs to be refreshed or they need to close and open their browser for them to see any applied changes, otherwise they are still seeing the previous version which is cached.
Hi, I’ve tried this but the lightbox only opens in the user who triggered the lightbox. Other users on refreshing the page do not see it.
I would prefer it the way like you mention it in the sandbox page but the way I do it is by uploading a csv file. So all previous data needs to be deleted and replaced by the new csv data. If I delete in sandbox and upload the csv in sandbox and then sync, the live data will contain the data from yesterday + the data of the updated sandbox (double amount of lines). There is no option to replace all items (Sandbox → Live).
