I have read the wix code example and they do not provide enough info to really implement as they leave out several required steps to implement. Have also read the one example I could find in the forums and the code just does not work.
Anyone have anything that works to set up a user input for a rich text field?

There is a new component(“rich text box”) under “user input” so you don’t need to set up your own rich text editor.
