Website links opens to the middle of the next page - a year later

Hi everyone - A year ago there was a thread titled the same name “Website links open to the middle of the next page”.

A year later, literally to the month, and the issue is still a problem? It seems that pages by default load in the middle.

Has anyone solved this problem? Here is the original post -
Thanks!

Make sure you are not pointing to an Anchored element from the menu.

Hey thanks so much for getting back to me. My link is pointing to a page. When you look at the page at the top, it for some reason wants to anchor in the middle. The “section” however anchors you to the top. So frustrating :frowning: Here is a video.

Can you click on that video and again click separately on the Star Streaming section with the INSPECTOR open so that we can see how that video is behaving. Why is that video above your top section?

Hey! Thanks again for trying to help. The video doesn’t seem to be a big factor? It’s the same problem as the guys were having last year - when you link to Editor X pages (even the ones in the demo) they behave like you’re trying to anchor somewhere in the middle and then they scroll up. Either way, here is another recording…

I’m so frustrated at this point and a lot of people seem to be having this same issue (a year ago) that I almost just want to go back to Squarespace and rebuild my whole site there.

Thanks tho, iamteejay  really appreciate the support.

Yes, that video shouldn’t be there. It is not defined as the top of the page. Sorry about your troubles. Square Space is more challenging to me.

Hey @lauren54264 ,

So I’m able to replicate this on my end and will forward this.

However, that thread shared seems to relate to the live site and I’m unable to recreate that behavior. Only seems to affect when selecting Page within the layers panel.

Hey @Rob ! Thank you so much for looking into this! It seems the button’s link almost wants to link to like the center pivot of the page it’s going to, and then corrects itself and scrolls up. Here is another video of that behavior. Is this what you’ve been able to replicate?

I should add @Rob I absolutely LOVE Editor X so far, I just hate the small technical hurdles like this where it seems like a bug in the system? Otherwise it’s fantastic <3

Hey @lauren54264 ,

Happy to hear that you’re loving Editor X. If there are any hurdles, let us know as we can use it to collect feedback and suggestions.

I wanted to mention that I’m unable to replicate that behavior on the Editor nor on the live site; however, if I do click Page , it does direct to the middle of the page which may be expected as usually clicking a section or container in the layers panel navigates to the center of the element.

Does this happen on the live site as well? If you are not yet ready to publish, you can unpublish the site afterwards but may be good to test the functionality on the live site.
