What is fileusr.com?

I’m embedding my html/js code into html widgets on our Wix site. These access maps and data on my company’s web server. One of our clients is getting malicious content warnings when they try to access these frames. They’re getting the message that this content is coming from " http://www.ourwebsite-com.filesusr.com ." What is fileusr.com and why isn’t the content coming directly from our server?

Hi,

Googling a bit I found that fileusr.com domain seems to be registered to GoDaddy but I’m not sure how it is related to this flow…

Could you please share some more details?
Maybe even the specific site with steps for reproducing the issue?

Thanks
Adi

I can’t recreate the issue. Our client is getting malicious content warnings using Forcepoint’s SmartFilter software. It’s telling them that the content in the html widgets is being hosted at http://www.ourwebsite-com.filesusr.com instead of just http://www.ourwebsite.com as it should be. In this case, the content is just html/javascripts that point to services on our own web server.

If you are using an embed html component the referrer URL will have such a domain name, its internally generated by WIX for embed iframes.

Is there any way around this?

Its a naming convention, if you need it in order restrict access you can use it with your sites name.
If it doesn’t help you, what is the exact use case you are looking into"?

I don’t want to restrict access, the client’s access to the HTML content is being restricted by their SmartFilter because “fileusr.com” is being added to the URL. I need this to stop.

can you send me the url to the site so I can see the problem myself

I’ve hit this same issue, but with Norton. In fact, if you use their test tool you can see that thy’re blocking fileusr.com because other sites use bit coin mining javascripts on it.

I just got off the phone with Wix support, and they wouldn’t own up to fileusr.com being how iFrame data is hosted. I got so frustrated, I ended the call without resolution, and decided to host the page myself, and use an embedded web page object, but that just throws a console error.

So frustrating. We are an older dog rescue, and it’s our adoption and volunteer pages that don’t work as a result of this.

Here’s the Norton report, BTW:

Hello, I’m having a problem with the fileusr.com URL as well. The fileusr.com affects our data in google analytics. We have a 3rd party ecommerce droplet (Checkfront) embedded and every time someone makes a booking it looks like they were referred from the fileusr.com URL. To confound the problem, the google analytics data shows the user Behaviour Flow going straight from fileusr.com to making a booking when in fact they were on our website. ie. we loose the user’s previous navigation history as soon as they are sent to fileusr.com. We’re a small not-for-profit organization with no programming experience.

Did anyone figure out what fileusr.com is? I’m seeing it on my YouTube analytics. When I go to fileusr.com I get the following message. Is this happening because I have embedded a YouTube video on my website?

This site can’t be reached

fileusr.com ’s server IP address could not be found.Try running Windows Network Diagnostics.DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Here is my YouTube analytics for traffic source. I direct people to my Wix website to watch my Therapeutic Music Video that is hosted on YouTube and embedded on my website. This video is a tool for my clients so I’m pretty sure the only traffic sources are YouTube, Facebook, and my Wix website. Is fileusr.com another way of saying Wix?

I found this…I am too inexperienced to figure out what it means but this site is showing us how to add fileusr.com that to the end of a url to “whitelist” it…whatever that means. Scroll to the bottom to see the specific reference to Wix. What does this mean?

I’m having exactly this same problem. Did you find a resolution for this?

Having the same issue. Using Zoho SalesIQ visitor information and chat and all the URLs in SalesIQ for all visitors is showing up as the same fileusr.com path because the SalesIQ code is within a HTML frame on our WIX site. Pretty useless for seeing which page the user started the chat on. They really need to sort this out.

People. Filesurs is how Wix stores downloadable files such as pdfs, etc.

I don’t believe it was at the time of these posts (though surely it was equally as innocuous). Static files were until recently hosted on https://static.wixstatic.com/media/ .

Like Schachar said this domain has long hosted $w.HtmlComponent .
