What's the future of Wix CLI App Builders with AI App Builder in Pipeline?

Hi Family,

Hope everyone is doing great.

I joined a Wix for Developer Webinar of Fab 2026, where the Wix Team showed some cool stuff, New CLI, along with an AI-based App Builder(Kind of like Harmony but for Apps). I was impressed with it, but it also made me feel slightly concerned.

As someone who is actively investing time, resources, and effort in rebuilding my Blocks apps on the new Wix CLI to ensure Harmony compatibility, I have some questions and concerns, and I hope it’s received in the constructive spirit in which I meant.

Many of us independent App developers have been navigating a difficult transition. When Harmony launched overnight, and Blocks apps were no longer supported on new sites, app sales for a lot of us dropped noticeably(My Top Apps dropped from 100+ installs a month to 10-0 range). Not because our apps weren’t good, but simply because the platform moved faster than we could, and with no prior warning. That was a hard lesson for me personally.

Rather than being stuck on that, I’ve personally chosen to move forward and rebuild my Blocks app on the CLI, trusting that this is the right long-term path.

But watching the AI App Builder demo in that webinar did raise a genuine question I think many CLI developers are quietly wondering: How do CLI-built apps remain competitive and relevant as AI App Builder Launches? Is it worth spending hours on developing an app in CLI or Blocks when the AI App Builder can do the same thing in minutes or seconds? I know for a fact that once the AI app builder launches, the Wix App Market will get saturated with the same apps from the same category, including the types that we built after spending hours.

I’m not suggesting the AI builder is a bad idea; it’s far from it. I just think a clear, forward-looking statement from the Wix team about how CLI developers fit into the roadmap alongside these AI tools would go a long way. Knowing early, even in broad strokes, helps us make smarter decisions about where to invest our development time. If an AI App Builder App can compete with my CLI app, I would rather spend my time creating Headless templates or Wix Studio templates than rebuilding my Apps and creating new ones.

The Wix developer ecosystem thrives when there’s trust and transparency between the platform and those building on it. I’m committed to this ecosystem and want to keep contributing. I’d just love to know we’re building on solid ground.

Thanks for listening.
Kind Regards
