Who to believe for the best SEO? Wix or other SEO tools?

Hi Wix Community, #SEOProsTribe
In the Wix page “SEO options” we can give a “meta title” and a “meta description”.
Wix tells us to make a maximum of 70 characters for the meta title and between 50 and 300 characters for the meta description.

Excluding … all expert SEO TOOLS like SEMRUSH, SCREAMING FROG tools … explains that the meta description must not exceed 160 characters.
So who to believe to have the best SEO so as not to be penalized by Google.
Thank you

Google will never penalize you for adding a longer meta description. They just won’t show it all. My personal suggestion would be to use 50-60 characters for the title and 140-160 characters for the meta description. Google change things all the time. One day they show 150 characters and other days show 320 characters. Using my rule of thumb will ensure all of your title and description will show.

Meta-descriptions don’t count towards your SEO, so don’t worry about their length. The only effect the length of your meta-descriptions can have is that part of it will not be visible on all devices (if they are too long), but there is no punishment from having them too long.

Pro Tip: Make sure they are never the same on any 2 pages of your site. If they are, there is a risk Google will consider the content of the pages to also be the same and simply exclude one of the pages from their index. Nothing could be worse for your SEO than that.
