Wix Apps | Other Events | Google Analytics & Adwods Tracking

So, seeing that you guys have released a major API reference and knowing about your API for app devs as well, I was wondering if I could please/possibly receive or find some additional and similar information that could help me setup Google Analytics event tracking for the purposes of adwords conversion & goal tracking (in my current need via the Wix Booking App) so that I can get better information how my different paid clicks and campaigns are doing.

If this is not currently possible, can this be made into a feature request For Wix code documentation/reference sources? I understand some apps have conversion tracking by GA or Facebook pixel features available, but many do not, this way, those of us who are able to dabble in code, can easily do our thing with these tracking affairs by receiving the right event data from you guys for various needs and being able to use that to gauge our ad spend and performance better right away, while you guys do eventually build these as part of scheduled and prioritized feature requests and make them available natively in all the apps as I am aware of some of these specific feature requests as well.

That is if I am not being confused, cuz I may be.

Hay Omid,

Google Analytics has a programmatic API to send events - see this link . While this API is not directly available for users of Wix Code at the moment, we can make it available. Will it solve your needs?

It can’t hurt, can it?

all you need to do is to divert the traffic to a Thank you page after
conversion and to put the Google event code in the Thank You page
with the HTML window - it works!

no kidding, except that when you use Wix Booking and some of the other apps, good luck with creating and redirecting to a thank you page.

Indeed I had good luck with it

I have a website built in code now, houth1, and I would like to be able to “track” button clicks that end up loading a lightbox and not a page. Is this something we can do at this time? I basically need to be able to see that within Google analytics and find related data such as session and other pages and what not and this is that would be great if we could track independently per page.

Right now, my fastest way to get the data right away for any page is load of Analytics visual analyzer, and that baby counts all the clicks for a specific URL on all the links that lead there on all pages which makes things a bit harder to track down on a more granular level. which is required tbh. IF in general we can start counting click-events and lightbox launches as well, it will be great. But I remain open to any suggestions or feedback you may now have after a few months.

Hay Omid,

Right now you can only report on page views (e.g. URLs). We are working to expose the APIs for custom events that will solve your need.

Ok haha, alright Yoav. I surrender. I give up on this battle and let you guys and time heal the need. I am going to have to create like 40 thank you pages tonight haha thank god for dynamic page creation and nice speedy duplication methods.

Hey guys,
Adding Google event tracking would help me also. I have a site that promotes a concert series in 25+ cities - each concert has tickets sold through a different third party vendor. I cannot track conversions through the vendors, but I would love to get more information about clicks from our concert page to the third party ticket seller (because we advertise ticket prices along with all other details on our page). A thank-you page is not an option for me, for obvious reasons, though an alternative to that like a 1-3 second “redirect” page that appears after someone hits “Buy Tickets” might work, does that exist?

well, I could not quite do this the easy way, turns out my client hates emails and loves appointments. so I had to forgo contact forms and instead using booking bits all over the place. Now I think I have to create separate types of bookings and connect to each bit properly as there is no other way to track things correctly but to see how each exact type of booking connected to each sub page ends up getting a registration.

Nevertheless, it would be interesting if I could REGISTER any defined CLICK events inside of wix analytics or even inside of GA as that would allow me to at least have some measure of tracking this besides looking at my calendar, so I know people clicked on the initial booking button, but maybe then for some reason they drop off afterward. That way, at least I know what is and what is not working and can react accordingly if I have to make a change or use an interim alternative while this wix booking product becomes a bit more mature.

I feel really in a pickle with all the little shortcomings it still has, but none more than this bothers me as my client will end up paying something $30-50 a paid click in ads (lawyers have the most expensive kw) and we will still have no proper way of tracking what is happening on the website itself outside of url visits and thank you pages when it comes to chat events, inside of element clicks on various social links (as an example), or INSIDE of booking clicks as another example. I feel the abilities of Wix for analytics have not at all grown with the rest of its behemoth size now… This analytics capacity we have her just does not address what a business needs addressed in 2018. It is stuck in 2012, not that it was enough then either. We really need a standardized and proper way for these tracking and ROI impacting factors guys.

Thanks

Hi Yoav, is this feature available now? It would be extremely useful to have analytics for events such as button click. Eg. I am using the WIX get subscribers app but I see no way to push a successful conversion into Google analytics. Is this possible at all?

Or even if I embed a Youtube video, there seems to be no easy way to track how many times the video has been played.

Thanks!

Hi Suresh,
This feature will be available soon.
Roi

Great news. Thanks Roi.

Is the feature available now?

Mia Florentin , how were you able to create those pages with ShoutOut subscribe, Booking confirmation?

I am seriously thinking to take my site elsewhere - how can I spend money on marketing and not be able to attribute?!
