Wix Bookings Staff members as Site collaborators? Limiting them at 5 and 10? Sure?

Question:
Is this a huge blunder or a deliberate move? Wix’s new restriction on site collaborators, introduced three days ago, has ruined my Wix Booking-based project.

Product:
Wix Studio, Wix bookings, Staff members and Site collaborators

What are you trying to achieve:
The restriction on site collaborators was introduced three days ago, and it makes sense — there’s no need for more than 5 collaborators with a standard plan, for sure.

HOWEVER. The change didn’t take into account that staff members in the Wix Bookings app are also considered site collaborators, even with the simple role that’s expected from a booking app: that staff members using the booking system should be able to edit their own schedules, view their calendars, or sync them with Google Calendar or other calendars. Now, these staff members also count towards the maximum of 5 site collaborators with Standard Plan, or 10 in the case of the Plus Plan. I have 20 staff members. Essentially, from one day to the next, I can only continue using the booking system with an Enterprise Plan. Do you see a solution for this? Is there a chance they will fix this? Do you think this is a bug they overlooked, or a major move against customers?

A site collaborator should be someone we actually work with on the site — someone who administers, edits, designs the site, writes blog posts, edits galleries, handles customer service, etc.

What have you already tried:
I’ve already spoken with customer service twice. The first time, they told me to upgrade from the Standard Plan to the Plus Plan, saying that would solve the issue because the function had simply been moved there. When that didn’t solve the problem (obviously), I followed up with them again, and this time they outright told me that this isn’t a bug and it’s completely normal that from now on, I’ll have to say goodbye to staff members being able to manage themselves. But of course, they “understand my perspective” and would do something if they could.

Additional information:
That being said, I’ve encountered unreasonable or poorly implemented mechanisms before at Wix, which were later fixed. In your opinion, what forum or channel could bring this glaringly negative change to the right people? I can’t believe I’m the only one running a booking system with more than 9-10 staff members added, where it’s important for them to manage their own schedules.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I’ve just experienced the same issue. Huge blunder on their end. I’ll likely move my clients out of it.

Solution 1
Step 1: Make a badge for staff only
Step 2: Make a page with a form that staff can fill out to either take action on an account or report errors (or whatever else you want to add).

Solution 2
Step 1: Make a new site
Step 2: Make it “Password Only”
Step 3: Make badges for staff only
Step 4: Make the site for administration only

If you want me to make you these, contact me. I will see if I can think of anything else!

Thanks for reaching out to the Wix community!

Cheers!

I have the same issue and I am very frustrated. I was planning to migrate the booking system from my company to the wix platform, but with this new restriction, it turned out to be impossible. People with access only to their personal agenda counts now as staff member with site access. That makes no sense. And even with that nonsense, the maximum “staff” members I can have is 15. I need that up to 30 at least. And even to get to that 15 number, I have to pay for a bunch of things I won’t use. It’s everything wrong here, people. Please revert these changes.

This is truly ridiculous. Staff members are not even real collaborators. They are there just to manage and see their bookings, never editing the site or administering other things on the dashboard. Limiting staff to 15 means you can only have 15 people taking bookings. It’s a very poor decision.

Go ahead and limit the number of people who can edit the site, but why limit staff members? More staff members will not even add to the cost of running the website.

@noahlovell This limit of 15 staff members is very concerning and is turning clients towards other booking platforms. We need to convey this message to whoever is making such decisions.

Is there any update on this?

I am currently using Calendly but looking to migrate to Wix bookings. If there is a maximum limit of 15 staff members, this is not going to be feasible for me.

I’m waiting for an update too. This staff/collaborator limit is not feasible for me either.

I do the same. I choose an other solution without any limit.

Hey!

ICYMI - we heard the feedback and increased the collaborators quota on Elite and Business Elite plans from 15 to 100 :tada:

These increased quotas have already been applied automatically to the mentioned Premium plans.

Hi, i’m now questioning if Wix was a good solution for our business. It makes very little sense to not let Staff handle their own schedule, and it makes no sense to handle staff as collaborators, when they are actually not.

We have a business model with alot of staff needed, also more than 100. They do not collaborate on our page;) but they do need to manage their own schedule.

Is there a solution to this? would you consider not categorizing staff (doing services) as collaborators?

Thanks!

Which solution did you go for? If you don\t mind sharing.

I use SuperSaaS to manage my meetings linked to Wix with their API.

I know there is a new integration module with Wix, but I decided not to use it because they use the email address as the key instead of the Wix user ID. (If a user changes their email, you will lose the synchronization).

Advantages:

  • No limit on the number of schedules
  • Synchronization with Google or Microsoft
  • Good management of resources
  • Easy to use for non-integrated solutions
  • Free plan and pricing depending on usage

Disadvantages:

  • Difficult to integrate with Wix if you decide to manage connections through your site (to display calendar you must code into a html frame)
  • Some operations, such as the creation of a schedule, can’t be performed via API

Best regards,

Thank you! Very much appreciated!
I will look into this solution, since Wix seem not to want to differentiate staff from contributors :s

We also were looking to implement staff logins for managing personal bookings in our site (and would’ve been willing to upgrade from Core to the Business plan to be able to do so), but the fact that we’d have to more than 5x our current monthly cost to go all the way up to Business Elite to get any kind of functional number of staff members feels totally out-of-touch. We’re relatively small and can’t afford to pay that much more for simply the ability for staff to manage their own schedules. We’ll be purchasing separate scheduling software instead of unifying our booking system with Wix as we had hoped. Really encourage reconsideration here.

I was about to set up a new business site with WIX, but having seen the limitations on the numbers that I can have that can actually just simply manage their own calendar, as they are included as ‘collaborators’ I am going to have to look elsewhere. This is just really bad practice.
