Add a new permission to allow live video co-hosts view only Live Videos (start or join an existing Live video entry).
What current pain point are you facing?
We are using the webinar functionality (Live Video) within Wix Events, which is a nice feature. Our webinars typically include external guests (speakers) which we give host access (i.e. ability to share and present during webinar).
However, in order to do that, the external guest host has to signup as site user with an assigned role having the permission “Manage Events”. This permission is overly broad: it allows this essentially guest user to view, edit and create all our events - we definitely do not want external people view all our events, much less change them.
Do you have a current workaround that you’re using?
Currently, the only way is to temporarily grant a role with “Manage Events” permission and then remove that role after the webinar event. It still allows this user to mess and edit all events while the permission is active.
Describe the feature you need and how it would work. (Bonus points for mockups )
Add permission level Events → “View Live Events”, so that can be assigned to a user role. That would allow the external user to login and view only Live Events (and join them as co-host), but not the Events themselves: Log In to Your Wix Account - Wix.com/live-video/upcoming
Ideally, allow external users to join as co-host so that the functionality can be exposed within site member pages. That way we can bypass altogether the need for the guest speaker to access Wix Management portal at manage.wix.com
How will this impact you?
It will make the Wix Event functionality much more flexible, especially when delivering webinars, making it on-par with competitor webinar-only platforms. The pressure to move away to a dedicated webinar platform would go away.
