We have a client who offers daily tours.
This client has more than 2000 (two thousand) tours a year. Of course these are not 2000 different tours, but rather 20 tours that take place almost everyday at different times.
So we wanted to set up the 20 tours in Wix Events, so that people can receive tickets with QR-Codes.
The idea was to create each of these 20 tours/events and set up the times.
The problem was/is that one can set up only one period per event. So you can choose neither the days nor the time. Because Wix takes each event as an ongoing event.
An example:
An Old City Tour
Date/Period: 21st April till 21st August
Frequency: Two tours everyday from Monday till Thursday.
Time: One tour from 12 pm till 14 pm and the other from 15 pm till 17 pm
In addition to the description and photos, etc., that’s what you can set up:
Date/Period : 21st April till 21st August
Frequency: Everyday (the whole week)
Time: You can set up only once, i.e. from 12pm (21st April) till 14pm (21st August).
So, the event begins on 21st April at 12pm and ends on 21st August at 14pm.
And if you have an events calendar widget, the event will show up only on 21st April and not like a stretch from 21st April to 21st August. And even if you change the layout of the widget, the event will only show up as one event.
That is why, we had to create and copy more than 2000 events, just because the events app does not have this feature of setting up one event with different dates and days.
So, that’s that.
Also, through this huge number of events, when you want to set up different widgets with different events, you will have to scroll like forever to find the event you want to show or hide. And that’s because of the above mentioned missing function and also because of the small size of the settings window of the events widget in the editor.
One other thing, which I found very funny, like weird funny; we have contacted the support like hundred times at the beginning to find a solution for the 2000 problem. But at the end, we did it as I’ve mentioned above.
Then we wanted to use one calendar widget to show all the events in one place, which is logical, I believe.
And after so many calls with the support, because the calendar did not show all the events, although everything was set up correctly , an answer came from Wix, that the calendar can only take up to 500 events._.
Thank you!
