Wix Groups -- Management Issues

I had hoped that Wix Groups would provide a dynamic collaboration platform in Wix. But Wix Groups seems to present major difficulties for managing content, as the API lacks tools for posts and files.

  • All file uploads appear to be dumped in the root of Media Manager–not even in their own folder, let alone subfolders for each group, and no tags. So, no systematic way to identify and manage these files.
  • No way even manually to remove files in a Wix Group except by deleting the posts they are attached to. And from my testing, the files “deleted” in a Wix Group appear to remain scattered like litter in Media Manager! So, uploads by all groups are jumbled together in Media Manager and remain there even when a group is deleted. Really? Surely, then, you must keep all other media in separate folders, leaving the Media Manager root to Wix Groups.

Does anyone have experience with a site that uses Wix Groups extensively? Is the “files” feature used? Would integration with the Wix File Share App be better–or does it present problems itself that led to having this separate file share feature in Wix Groups?

Agreed. Groups is mostly promise at this point. Looks like a Blog with shared files. probably that’s what it is on the back end.
What I am looking for is commenting within a shared workspace. Similar to Google Docs, but with my WIX member accounts. How about floating comments on a Blog like Word/Goggle Doc comment system. That would be a natural next add to Groups.
