As you are all aware, the Wix Restaurants Mobile App is no longer supported by Wix Restaurants on Apple Store and Google Play Store and the New Wix Mobile App currently hasn’t got a Print function, so it’s causing restaurants mayhem & confusion. Development is currently underway but there is no date for completion. If you have a Thermal Printer that is compatible with Air Print, then you can now Print from the New Wix Mobile App as this feature is already developed. Development for Bluetooth Thermal Printers is currently underway, so anyone who purchased the Star Micronics TSB650ii Bluetooth Printers as suggested by Wix Restaurants, printing orders from the App will happen again but no confirmed date as to when this will happen.
However there is a solution and it requires you to discard the Wix Mobile App for the minute and log in to your Wix Restaurant Dashboard on a Browser (but you can’t use iOS/Apple devices unless your printer is compatible with Air Print), so open a Browser on a laptop or Windows/Android Tablet and log in to your Dashboard.
This is only for printing from the browser with 80mm Thermal printer connected.
-
Open your Restaurant Dashboard in Google Chrome for example
-
Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + J (on the device you will be printing from)
-
Click the Console tab at the top of the panel and click Clear console
1: Input the Following string: localStorage.setItem(‘print.pagewidth’, 72);
- The 72* is an example of your Printers width size… Usually 72mm or 80mm but 72 works best*
2: Press enter
3: Next click the Print button next to an order.

This now formats the text to fit and print correctly on your Thermal Printer.
YOUR PRINTER
You can use any Thermal Printer, so you don’t require the Star Mirconics TSB650ii Bluetooth Printer as suggested by Wix Restaurants. However, if Star Micronics is the only Thermal Printer you have, check the interface to see how your printer connects. If your Star Micronics Printer uses Bluetooth only, then you will need to change the interface by purchasing the Star Micronics HI-X Connector
This interface will now allow you to connect your printer to the device you’re printing from via LAN, USB or USB Printer Cable. I also purchased a WiFi Dongle and inserted the dongle in USB Port 1 to allow me to connect the Printer to my WiFi network so once the device you print your orders from is connected to the same WiFi network, it will allow your orders to print without using cables, but if you prefer cables then simply connect a USB Printer cable in the printer port. This is probably the easier way.
If your Printer already has a Printer Port and/or USB ports then you don’t require to change your interface so just connect your printer to your device and you’re all ready to print your orders to your Thermal Printer. Unfortunately all my clients were using the Star Micronics TSB650ii Bluetooth Printers so I had to purchase the Hi-X-Connector for all their printers but there is also a cheaper, lead-in printer you can purchase for approx €/$150 called Epson TM T20iii and this printer works very well or if your restaurants has any other Thermal Printers with USB and/or USB Printer Ports, then just use these instead.
Just make sure you have followed the instructions above about how to enter the String to format the print size. Wix Restaurants developers has said the Wix Mobile App will now print if your printer is Air Print compatible and that development us currently underway for Bluetooth Printers but until this is developed you will have to use a Browser to open your Restaurant Dashboard. To be honest, I and my clients much prefer the browser version to the Mobile App as they have more control over their restaurant and menus and you don’t need expensive iOS devices to print orders from.
I hope this helps everyone’s problems with printing on Thermal Printers.
