WiX Restaurants/ Auto Order Print / Accessibility

Hi All,

I have a tough client that wants the orders to auto-print. She only reads in Chinese, and also has very bad eyesight. She is also very needy. :slight_smile:

We need to hookup a large 8.5x11 Bluetooth printer to auto-print the sheet in English when order comes thru. She will then use Google Translator via the camera to scan the larger print and translate it magically via OCR to Chinese.

Does this feature exist today via the WiX iPhone app or WiX desktop dashboard

Note:
I would use the google cloud print, but that is soon to be deprecated.

I know about the whole thermal printer and WiX restaurants independent app going away, and of the recent solution, but I’m in the dark about the auto-print for this too.

Hi Steve you sent me this thread once before. Thank you but I don’t see anything related to auto printing. Maybe I missed it.

Specifically, I need to know two things:

  1. Is there an auto-print ability in the WiX iPhone app or even from the desktop dashboard?
  2. What is going to be the replacement for the google cloud auto-print feature being deprecated?

As far as the replacement for Google cloud auto-print, I don’t have an immediate response but I can reach out to our team to see if I can get some additional information. I’m sure you’re aware, but it is still being supported until January 21, 2020.

Customer care usually provides a response ‘sorry, but I will send it to the restaurant developers’ and nothing ever happens.

I will give WiX a clap on a few new recent features, things are SLOWLY improving, but honestly if you look at the WiX restaurants blog, new features are slim to none over multiple years. I have a whole Trello board of improvements I’d like to see. The restaurants app is so efficient in many ways, it’s a great tool otherwise. It just seems that WiX restaurants developers are either very slow to implement, or don’t really care :pensive:

Sheila, thank you are you the development team? And are you saying that there should be no interruption on the auto-printing as there will be a solution before (or at the time of) google cloud print deprecating?

If that is true, then I will onboard the client onto google cloud print for now until that transition occurs.

OMG I now see a WiX chat bubble to chat with account manager for my issues. REALLY WiX your finally getting it and providing what we need to solve things!!! :grin::grin::grin::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

We’re working on a solution so that once google cloud print is deprecated, you will be able to use that solution instead. Unfortunately, I can’t provide any more details beyond that :slight_smile:

Just wanted to note that the PaperCut blog states that this is the only free alternative to Google Cloud Print that Google itself recommends. I’m recommending that WiX look at this in the development alternatives. Not affiliated in any way, just an agency needing this function when Google Print is deprecated. [@Steven] and @sheyla i want to thank you both. I have one last step and wondered if you can tell me this: is it that any thermal printer that connects via WiFi and prints 72mm-80mm size receipts and therefore able to be connected to google cloud print (for time being) able to receive an order from WiX restaurants? Do I really need an expensive star micro ice or Epson? I’m trying to decide on the thermal printer to buy and my options. And looking ahead, if the printer is WiFi compatible, do you think that will be enough to satisfy any GP replacement that might be implemented? My goal here is not only or even to print direct from the mobile app, but more so being able to directly send orders to the thermal printer automatically.

Hi Mitt, this is what the article states:

“Other Star Micronics bluetooth printer models can also be paired successfully. If you have any issues with pairing, please contact the printer support.”

If you have a different printer in mind, I recommend looking at this list .

Do you mean WiX experts partner email or customer care thru the chat/phone web URL? Is either more experienced in these type of questions?

I’ve also ordered an Epson TM 30 and a Star Micronics 654 to test them both out. Both are wireless and as I can see from the GP site, even if they are not listed I think I can still add any printer as a classic printer, invite WiX restaurants email, and plug in the printer if in the notification auto-print field in WiX R.
