Working with a Wix client and wondering if Wix has a staging environment for premium users? My job will be to add a new theme and new content and I don’t want to disrupt their current site while I develop their new site. Is their a staging environment or a temp domain I could use? I’m can’t to find any information on your support page. Please advise.
Thank you in advance, Stephen
I use a free account for development. I turn off SEO and hope no one will find the development site. And I put a login before entering the site. When the site is ready after passing user testing, I switch it to the Premium site. The switch is dead simple.
Only thing to watch out is to reindex the site with google. It is easy to do in WIX. Just do the SEO wizard again after you switch. What I am not totally sure is how much it will affect the ranking by reindex. From everything I read, it shouldn’t since you are not redirecting any pages.
I wish it where
Hi!
Can you please elaborate on this: “… I switch it to the Premium site. The switch is dead simple”?
I was not able to figure it out.
Thanks,
Robert
I 3rd this. I think this is very essential!
This feature is already implemented, you can Publish a revision of your website " Release Candidate ", a small arrow next to the Publish button that will allow you to publish a version of your site with special URL that won’t affect the original published site, it’s like having two versions of your site simultaneously.
Please read this article: Creating a Release Candidate .
This is an old post and should be closed, if you have further questions, please create a new post.
Release candidate is not the same as a staging site.
The need is to develop a new site (staging) and then replace/overwrite the old one.
Release Candidate is testing the release of a new site (hypothetically the Staging site) to a percentage of viewers.
Not the same.

Please describe or provide links on how to “switch” a site to a Premium site.
Depending on your permissions for the site, you will want to either assign the premium plan to your new site when ready or transfer the premium plan into the account where the new site is
Wix Studio recently introduced some changes to test sites that might be relevant for these use cases.
