I hope you can answer this. It’s a bit off topic but since you are attracting more and more developers to your platform workflows getting more and more important for working with client sites.
Example:
I have a client, we call them hotelX and I have created a great WIX site for them. Now they want me to publish the site on their domain as the version 1.
I can publish and connect their domain to our account but I would like to send their site to a separate WIX account where the site should remain and live it’s life. I transfer the site but then it disappears from my account and I can’t continue to work and develop on the site anymore.
So I have to copy the site first to hotelX-ver1 maybe and then transfer that site to their account. And then continue to work on the copied site in my account and then when I am publishing some new stuff I have to copy it again and then transfer the site over to their account.
I can live with this behaviour but now I wonder, what happens to sandbox and live data while copying and transferering sites in this way? I don’t want to overwrite their live data on their account. Does it get overwritten?
The biggest reason for this is that the preview window in WIX doesn’t always show me the truth so I have to publish the site to really check in all different browsers and on mobile to see that everything is ok. And by having to do this I can’t work on their live site because if I publish the site I have no time to check stuff because it is getting live at once.
I would like to have some kind of staging → production behaviour functions now when WIX is targeting more and more advanced sites. Otherwise it will add on lots and lots of hours for me to work with admin stuff while updating their sites.
If I could connect to sites to each other and set one as STAGING and the other as PRODUCTION and with some KEY / TOKEN thing connect them in that way would be most valuable for us with many and advanced WIX sites.
When I have done work on staging I can choose to sync site with it’s production connected site and I can also choose to sync design not data or design and data. This way the workflow would work seamless.
Or if I am just stupid and have missed the whole working workflow between WIX consultants and clients please enlighten me on how to perform this work.
