Both the old registerUser(…) function and the new wix-members-backend. authentication . register(…) functions are creating a new contact object. Even if the email exists in the CRM.
Is there a way to register a Contact object as a member without creating a new Contact for it?

There isn’t a way to avoid the creation of a duplicate contact when using the backend function. The team is aware of this issue and is working on a solution.
