You can now allow customers to pay what they want to pay!

Introduction:

Ever had a client ask if customers could choose their own price for a product? I built Pay What You Want to make that possible with existing Wix Stores products, while letting the store owner set a minimum price.

How I did it:

Once the app is installed, add its widget to your product page. From the app dashboard, select the products you want to enable and set their minimum and suggested prices.

Customers can then enter their own amount and click “Add to cart at your price.” The original product and selected variant go into the normal Wix cart, and checkout continues as usual. Products you haven’t enabled keep their normal purchase flow.

Tools, Documentation and APIs:

Built with the Wix CLI app framework, Wix-hosted backend code, Wix Data, and Wix Stores/eCommerce APIs. The backend validates the chosen amount before adding the product to the cart. Pricing follows the store’s currency, with no separate hosting or payment processor needed.

Example:

Set a product’s minimum price to $5 and suggested price to $10. A customer can enter $12.34 and purchase it at that price through your Wix checkout.

There’s a 10-day free trial, then US$5/month or US$60/year. I’d love to hear your feedback!

Hi David, good job!
One quick question: Is the minimum price per product visible?

Hello!

Thanks heaps for your comment!

Yes the minimum price and suggested price are both visible, I’m also about to publish a new version which should allow customers to have it in any language they want and also move the widget around. This was based on some feedback I received.

Please feel free to share as much feedback as you can with me

Interesting approach, especially with native Wix checkout.

From a revenue perspective, I’d track average paid price and contribution margin alongside conversion rate. More orders at lower prices don’t necessarily mean more profit.

Is the customer’s chosen price available in order exports for analysis by product or variant?
