Another major problem with site members

Hello Group I wanted to let you know about a major problem with site-members. I have already reported it to Wix customer care weeks ago and despite it being escalated to the developers, they’re not treating it as a priority and I’ve got nowhere with them. I wonder if anybody here has any ideas to help as it’s seriously damaging our business. We’re so upset that Wix hasn‘t tried to resolve it for us.

When a customer tries to sign-up (using default, custom or velo sign-up form), even with ReCaptcha disabled, a ReCaptcha will sometimes appear which cannot be solved. It becomes stuck in a loop where it reappears after you complete it and never goes away.

Ive found this is the case on all of our sites and can be reliably recreated simply by enabling a VPN and trying to create an account. I tried it with the Opera Browser which has a built-in VPN and it appears every time.

We‘ve now had several emails from customers telling us they can’t create an account because of this.

If your site relies on site members, for example with Wix pricing-plans, then this will seriously hurt sales. I’d urge you to check your site and raise it with customer care.

Hi! I have not heard of such a problem so far. It could also be a problem with your site, have you tried the function on a new site and see if it occurs there or only on your site? I recommend raising this issue again with Wix customer care and provide as much information as you can, including the specific steps to reproduce the problem, the web browsers and VPN services that you have tried, and any error messages or screenshots you may have. Also, you may consider reaching out to the community or forums for additional support and see if other users have encountered the same problem and found a solution.

It affects both of my sites. I’m pretty sure this will affect all sites. I’ve provided Wix with everything you mentioned including some other things they asked for from dev tools.

The only other option would be to work completely with Wix Velo and develop a customer system in which all important data is stored. Here also rights can be managed and information between the account and the payment system can be transacted. Here it is also possible to work with Google Login or a Email login. Unfortunately, this effort is very complex and costly.

Wix already provides a site-members solution, but it doesn’t work, so I have to build my own?

Unfortunately, it is unpredictable how long Wix Developer will take to fix the issue, so that would be your option. It is also a question how much the current “Error” will damage your business and if you will lose customers. You will have to weigh this decision if you already have a response from a Wix support.

I’m having issues with my site when VPN is enabled, as well. I’d be curious to know if there are any updates to the specific issue in this thread.

Wix still haven’t looked at this. I doubt it will get addressed but you could contact customer service and have it escalated - pointing to this forum. It would be useful for everyone.

Sorry to hear that. My issue is with Forms and VPN specifically, but it sounds like it could be related to the site members issue. I’ve escalated the issue, so we’ll see if anything comes of it!

Yes, I’ve been having the same issue on my live site, and to be honest, got so fed up with it, I just removed the reCAPTCHA entirely. Obviously that’s not a sustainable option and opens my site up to risks and bot attacks, but I’m hoping it’ll get fixed before I officially start pushing my site outreach.

It’s been weeks, but it was such a nightmare trying to get it working, I didn’t want to spend the energy/frustration dealing with wix support on it.

I’m afraid to tell you that the reCAPTCHA will still appear even if you remove it entirely. Wix has a built-in system which causes it to appear regardless of your settings if a VPN is used. The problem is that the reCAPTCHA cannot be solved. It continually reappears and prevents the user from proceeding.

It appears even if you remove it?!??!?! Dang, I better try re-testing my member signup from the live site. Thanks for the suggestion

Yes it appears even if you remove it.
