Beta Unlocked: Edit Content Permission

We’re excited to announce one of the top feature requests from Partners related to the Editor, Edit Content permissions. Now, you can share your website design with clients and contributors, and they can edit the site’s content without affecting its design.

What is it?
The new Edit Content permission gives contributors limited access to a site. Contributors will only be able to access the Editor with the Quick Edit panel open to change content, such as images or text. They won’t be able to add new elements, move them around or change the design of the site.

Note: This permission is only available for sites using the latest version of the Editor.

How do you turn it on?
In your site Dashboard, go to Settings > Roles & Permissions > Manage Roles > Create New Role
Then add the Edit Content permission to the new role, along with any other permissions your contributor might need. Currently, the new permission is not part of a predefined role.

What does it look like in the Editor?
When a site contributor with the Edit Content permission opens the Editor, the Quick Edit panel will be open. They will only be able to edit existing content using the panel. They won’t be able to add anything new, or move elements around on the page.
