Confirmation message not appearing on live site after form submission

What are you trying to achieve:
After setting up a form submission confirmation message and saving as instructed, on the live site when tested, the form clears and no confirmation message appears. Why could this be?
What have you already tried:
I have triple checked the settings and all appear as they should.
