Email links not working

I’ve built my website and wanted a simple, seamless opportunity for potential customers to contact me. Instead it’s been an exercise in frustration and timewasting.

I created a button and then linked it to my gmail.

However every time it’s clicked (now website is published) it attempts to load Outlook as an app, and then fails to even create a pop-up email box after going through the motions.

All I want is a when a customer clicks on the button (or linked text) it opens an email window they can send a message to my gmail. That’s it.

I spent nearly 4 hours on the desktop then phone, sent around to 6 Wix Support ‘experts’ who didn’t understand/or couldn’t help with this issue.

You have created a button with a link to your email, (mailto:someone@example.com)
Once a computer clicks this link, it’s like clicking any other link, it is no longer looking at your site, simply looking up the link’s address and behaving in accordance with it

As a mailto link, most computers open the mail application set as default, and compose a mail to the defined address

If it’s not working on your computer, it may be an error on your specific machine

It sounds to me like you were thinking about something more along the lines of a Contact Form, where a visitor can simply fill it out and the site handles the email sent to you
