Was this ever ‘upgraded’ to an official feature request? The non-customizable email is one of the few things in Wix that make site owners look really unprofessional, not to mention the fact that many users mistake the email for spam and therefore just delete it.

It could easily be solved either by making the email customizable or by adding the possibility to turn off the automated emails as suggested by benm. The ideal solution would of course be to offer both options.
If a feature request has been created by Wix, then please provide the link to it.
And just to save time: The below feature that was released in 2021 does not solve this particular issue (as benm patiently explains in the comment section).
