There will be an option to create a Studio version of a Wix site and preserving the dashboard and its data, but building a new ‘frontend’ of the site. I’m not sure of the release date, but its on its way. Stay Tuned.

I can’t believe it’s been so long and there still isn’t a way to do so. very frustrating! @wix-team please, could you give a rough estimation on how much longer we’d have to wait? thank you.

I currently have early Alpha access to this feature and using it on a clients site as we speak. Very impressed so far, all the backend stays the same, contacts, store, subscriptions, cms, etc But as Dan says, you have to create a new front end from scratch.
