Loading Page For Desktop

The loading/welcome page for mobile sites makes every site I make look much better. Also google recognizes the loading page and waits until it’s over when displaying landing pages on the Google Ads Platform. I really wish there was a built in solution that would display this same loading page on desktop.

I’m currently working on a site that my client wants a nice headshot to great her clients with. I’ve compressed the image all the way down to 5kb and it still looks bad when loading the image (I tried several different compression sizes).

I really think that having an option to add a built in welcome screen that is part of the cms for desktop will be amazing.

It would also help close clients in the health, legal and consulting professions on switching to Wix from other cms systems. But currently this initial lag in load time causes the site to look unprofessional on desktop and losses some business.

I’ve noticed the same problem on at least 80% of Wix sites I look at through Facebook Groups so it can’t just be me.

A solution to the slight delay in initial load time would be a custom welcome/loading screen available on desktop as well as mobile.

Any thoughts??? :grin::bulb:

I have coded one in to a site before but it didn’t look as professional/clean as the one that Wix offers in the mobile tools :hammer_and_wrench:

Yeah - I know you can with Corvid, but you mentioned you didn’t like it as much as the mobile tools. It’s going to be a feature request for the custom loading screen. :frowning:

When you say it loses business, are you looking at your bounce rate?

No just some clients get turned off when they notice certain elements on the page loading a little slow. Especially if I’m converting them from word press site to Wix

@roger I think I see - Instead of popping a picture up of your client you may want to put that in the “about us/me” section. Just a thought :slight_smile:

Yeah I’m trying to think of a good workaround for the loading issue and using the codes in loading page seems like a good idea :bulb:

But the welcome screen in mobile tools seems simple so maybe that could be a more long term solution without being to much trouble on a development side

I was also thinking maybe a lightbox with a smaller picture would load fast
