Low image quality Wix Studio

Hi everyone!

I need some help to fix the poor photo quality.
The photos I previously optimized have lower quality when uploaded to Wix Studio. I tried uploading jpgs without optimization but still not the quallity I’m looking for.
Looks like Wix Studio auto-compresses every image too much. Is there a way to avoid it?

You can’t avoid compression in Wix any image you’ll upload will be optimized but images shouldn’t lose their quality much. If you need a better quality image try using PNG instead of JPG files.

PNGs are better at quality and Wix will compress them different then JPGs, this is what’s recommended by official sources.

Also you can try to upload JPGs in higher resolutions e.g. if your image is 1000x1000px try to scale it to 2000x2000 and upload again.

Thanks for your help!

I’ve tried using WEBP and PNG extensions. PNG seems to be the best solution in terms of visual quality, but there is an issue with the image size; it’s huge, almost 500 KB (the photo is full screen, 1920x1080, 72dpi).

Looks like Wix Studio converts images to lower “visual” quality when uploading, but the image size doesn’t decrease. I don’t understand why.

OK, I’ve found out what works best for me. Using the huge resolution as [LoeiX] suggested—3800x2000—and the WEBP extension results in quite good quality with only 100KB.

You converted your images to webp and then uploaded to wix?

Yes, that’s what I did.

Hi, user2037 !!

I heard that displaying images within custom elements can make them appear a bit nicer! I tried it myself, and while it didn’t work for videos, the images did look slightly better.

I’ve faced similar issues before while optimizing images for better quality. Using WEBP is a great solution, but for formats like JPG, I’ve found that compressing images without sacrificing quality really helps. Online tools like JPEG Compressor that focus on preserving quality during compression can make a big difference.
