Marketplace Leads

Hey all,

How does everyone find Marketplace as a solid lead generator?

What percentage of your leads turn into your customers?

Hey! Michelle Malone

Marketplace (like Facebook Marketplace, eBay, etc.) can be a solid lead generator, but its effectiveness really depends on your business type, products, and how well you’re leveraging it. A few things that impact its success as a lead generator include:

  1. Target Audience: Marketplace platforms are great for reaching local buyers, but the success can vary if you’re offering niche or high-ticket items that might need more specialized platforms or marketing strategies.
  2. Product Type: Physical products, particularly those in the second-hand, home goods, and tech categories, tend to do well on platforms like Facebook Marketplace. If you’re selling services or intangible goods, you might not see the same kind of traction.
  3. Listing Optimization: Clear, high-quality photos, well-written descriptions, and fair pricing can really improve your chances of turning views into leads. The more info you provide, the more likely potential customers will engage with your listings.
  4. Response Time: Quick responses can make a big difference. Since Marketplace is often a “chat-based” platform, customers may expect fast replies, and being responsive increases your chances of turning a lead into a customer.

As for converting leads into customers, the percentage can vary widely:

  • For high-demand or low-cost items, the conversion rate might be around 30-50%. These items are typically easier to sell, and you can expect a decent conversion rate from initial inquiries.
  • For higher-cost or niche items, conversion can be much lower (maybe 10-20%) since the decision-making process is longer and more involved.

It’s tough to give an exact percentage without more context on the business, but if you’re optimizing listings, responding quickly, and following up on leads effectively, you’ll likely see a reasonable conversion rate.

How about you? Do you use Marketplace for your business, and how have your results been?

A lead is a lead.

Closing the lead depends on how good you are at closing sales.

Hi, by Marketplace I mean Wix Marketplace :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s not a lead if it’s spam

I don’t know what to tell you. I make 60k from Wix marketplace leads on a slow year. And I turn off my leads at least 3 times a year.

A lead is a lead. Out of the hundreds I get each month only 1 or 2 are “spam” offering their services.
