I tried testing WIX Chat with a client yesterday, and when they were marked offline, the only notifications came into their WIX Inbox and the WIX app. Is there a way to make sure they get an email or text message immediately? I set up an automation for inbox, but that didn’t appear to work, and if it did, then it sent the email more than 20 minutes after the trigger. Is someone effectively sending a message to your inbox when they use the chat feature? What am I missing? Please and thank you.
Chat I believe is configured for the App and website only.
Hi @celestialpainter , I’m Chen, the Wix Chat and Inbox product manager. In case a visitor sends a message to the business, the business will first get notification in Inbox and in the mobile app. An email will be sent in the case the business owner didn’t open one of those notification and didn’t read the message after more than 5 minutes that it arrived.
So if you won’t open the notification on the web and mobile after more than 5 minutes, it will get to your email address.
Inbox/Chat messages will arrive to the email address of the user that he set in his account settings.
Let me know if you have any additional questions
Excellent. Thank you for this explanation. Is there any way to shorten that time to under 5 minutes? I ask because of how I do business. My goal is always to reach out to a potential new client immediately, while they are active on my site. 5 minutes would allow enough time for them to leave, and I don’t get that opportunity to capture them. With an instant email alert, I could stop what I was doing, sign into my WIX inbox, and engage the customer immediately. Perhaps instead of defaulting to 5 minutes, that could be lowered to 1 minute, or perhaps we could have a place to decide for ourselves 1, 5, 10 or never… ? Thank you again for your insight to its current state. Jimi
@celestialpainter why don’t you just answer directly from the mobile app instead of waiting for the email to arrive?
@chen-rosenthal Not all my clients want to use the mobile app. Secondly, they might not feel the vibration of that notification, but hear a chime for email notification. Also, what if I had multiple sites I managed? How would I install the app for 5 sites? This current method only allows me to be notified by one account at any given time…
@celestialpainter When you answer your clients through the mobile app doesn’t mean they need to have it as well. The mobile app is your tool the do actions on the go without having to be near a computer, e.g answer chat messages. if you answer from the mobile app it will go to your clients email, same as happens in the Inbox on desktop.
If you are managing multiple sites what I suggest is to add yourself as a contributor with the same email in all of them and this way you will be able to see all of them in the app when you login with this account and you will be able to get notification on all sites and answer them immediately.
Let me know if that make sense to you.
