Hey everyone!
Starting May 20th, 2024, opening Wix Editor or ADI sites will automatically update them to the latest version of the Editor.
To recap, here’s what this means:
- The update works seamlessly and doesn’t affect live sites. The update doesn’t apply to site built using Wix Studio or Editor X.
- Once updated, clients get access to features like sections, the Quick Editor tool and more.
To answer any questions about the update, we held a Studio Hours session on May 15th, 2024.
If you couldn’t make it, or just want a refresher on what was discussed, here’s what you need to know
@aviyas joined us to answer questions and kickstarted the session with an explanation of what happens when you update sites, along with a demo and walkthrough of how things work and some of the new features available.
We then dove into questions the community had.
Do I need to backup my site before updating? Can I still access previous versions of the site through Site History?
No - there’s no need to backup your site before updating. If you want to load a previous version of the site, you can still access them via Site History, although they’ll now be using Sections and the new features available.
Does this update enable concurrent editing?
The update provides you with the features available to you when starting a new Wix site from scratch. Concurrent editing isn’t possible in the Wix Editor.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for this feature, Wix Studio has it available.
Does the update have any impact on CMS or SEO?
No, any CMS or SEO data setup will still be available and work as it did before.
Is this something that should be communicated to clients?
Some agencies choose to communicate these updates with clients, while others don’t. Since most users will have experienced the latest version of the Wix Editor already, it may not be necessary.
With that being said, you know your clients best and will know the best way, if at all, to communicate any changes
Are templates updated? Can I use Studio templates in the Wix Editor and vice versa?
Wix templates have already been updated and are using the latest version of the Wix Editor.
Studio templates and Wix Editor templates are independent and can’t be used interchangeably across editors.
Does this update affect Premium plans?
This update won’t change your Premium plan, it will remain attached to your site. If there are any changes to Premium plans, we’ll communicate this in advance via email, community posts etc as usual.
And there we have it - if you have any questions about the update, be sure to share below
