What's this look like on a larger screen?

Hi everyone,

I only have a laptop to view my page on. I worry about my customers who have larger screens - will this look like garbage? I’m really worried about this! I’m building this in Wix Editor - I can’t find a forum for people using that so sorry that I have to post in here.

What I’m trying to do
Not be embarrassed or have to redo this in Wix Studio. I like Studio but just don’t have the time to learn everything about it. I’m really under the gun!

What I’ve tried so far
I can only test this on a cellphone, a tablet and a 17” screen on my laptop.

Extra context
Can you attach some screenshots on a large monitor? I’m assuming that most people have a monitor larger than mine. I’m also worried about load time. I seems to work okay on my laptop and is a little laggy on the phone. What do you think?

Hi, @Karen_Okeefe !!

I checked on my own display first, and I didn’t notice anything unusual. My monitor isn’t that large (probably around 23.8 inches). Also, even without owning a large display, you can still use browser features to simulate how your site would look on a bigger screen. For example, in Google Chrome you can open “Developer Tools”, then select “Toggle Device Toolbar.” This lets you enter a custom screen size, so you can test how your site appears on a large display. :innocent: :raising_hands:

Thank you for the advice. I looked at it with the Dev tools (I forgot we even had that in our browser) and there are definitely issues on some devices. I don’t know why some Wix sites aren’t really responsive. I’ll try making some adjustments. Thanks for your time!

The traditional Wix editor has been around for a long time and focuses on allowing anyone to create a website easily. As a result, it doesn’t put much emphasis on responsive design and isn’t built to automatically optimize layouts for different screen sizes.

On the other hand, the Wix Studio editor allows you to create fully responsive websites. However, because it offers a high degree of freedom, if you’re not careful, you can end up producing sites that look inconsistent, which makes it somewhat challenging for beginners. This is also why complaints are quite common.

That said, creating a perfect responsive website in one go is not easy for anyone, whether a person or even AI. I think it’s worth remembering this before filing complaints. The key is to understand that both ease of use and high flexibility come with their own pros and cons, and to use the tools with that in mind.

Since you seem to be short on time right now, using the current Wix editor is probably the best option. Alternatively, getting early experience with Wix Vibe, which seems likely to become Wix’s main platform in the future, might also help solve your issues. :innocent: :raising_hands:

I’ve been playing with Vibe all day and it’s actually amazing. I’m asking it to build out the skeleton but instead it goes out and finds suitable content, then formats it for me. Like, wow. AI is like the servant I never knew that I needed. Thank you!

P.S. - The layouts looked good on nearly every device that I tested it on. A little fiddling here and there and it could work. Of course there’s still the imagery and other updates that I have to make and it’s not exactly what I want, but it will go a long way towards helping me meet my deadline. Thanks again, Oh Wise One!
