Why is Google Photos no longer an option to Upload Media from?

I was able to have Google Photos connected to my wix account on my laptop, but now when I try to add photos to my products, I can no longer see Google Photos as an option to upload from.

You would need to save the photos to a google drive folder and then connect the Wix Media Manager to your google drive account.

on your phone : (doesnt work on laptop/pc)

  1. Select the photo(s)
  2. Tap the little share box (the box with the arrow pointing up)
  3. It will open another box with the option at the bottom “Share to…” tap that share box
  4. You scroll through the options of AirDrop, Messages, Mail, etc. If Drive comes up, click on it. Otherwise, select the More option at the end
  5. Under Suggestions, it lists Drive as an option
  6. Select Drive and you can choose which folder it gets moved to.

This is makes posting images so much harder. Why did you have to break what worked so well??

Hey @Samuel_Buckwalter and @Nikki_Layton, thanks for raising this. I reached out to the team and they are aware of this and is working on it, though they don’t have an ETA. In the interim as a workaround you could use Google Drive as an option as Dan mentioned in his comment. I’ll update the thread here once I have more information.

I also really relied on this functionality. Please bring it back.

Same. This is really irritating. It was so nice to grab all of my photos from Google Photos because they are already automatically uploaded there. Now I have to download everything or make a new folder in Google Drive? Why?

I specifically switched from squarespace to wix because I wanted to upload directly from google photos and rely very much on this function. I’m a visual artist so I upload a LOT of media to my website, I dont want to have to safe everything to google drive??

The workaround Ive found (for now) is to open img in google photos > open in new tab > copy the link > import to wix with the link. Its stupid but I hope they fix google photos link otherwise I am going to cancel my subscription.

“Doesn’t work on laptop/pc”
Good to know. What works on laptop/pc?

Thanks for chiming in Rob. For me this is a key feature. I’m in the process of choosing a new website platform for my client, from which they will send frequent newsletters each with several photos. Lack of connectivity with Google Photos using a laptop/desktop is a major hurdle.
