Hello, I might be using wix Professionaly for clients for the past 3 years but I’ve been using wix since 2007 to build websites for family and friends. I’ve seen how far this platform has come and all the added new futures that is packing as of now. That’s why I’ve decided to exclusively use wix to create websites for my clients.
That been said, I remember the grid lines been a wix way of producing a website that displays well across different screen resolutions. I do believe until 2013 this approach was ok but now that we have 2019 and we need 100% responsive websites it should be a priority of an added future. I know you will release an update on this soon but I wanted to share with you my humble opinion of a way to solve the grid lines limitations.
Take a look at Adobe XD, you do not have grid lines but you do have columns that help you space your elements correctly on your screen and then choose your specific element to be responsive on screen resize. I’m sure your developers are aware of this UI/UX software and I do not need to explain how it works. What I wanted to say is, I hope you get a similar approach to adobe XD responsive designing as it will solve the grid lines limitation and gives us the freedom to design unique, modern and most of all 100% responsive websites!
These are good points - and I will tell you that Wix understands this and has been working to make something that will solve this issue. I would stay tuned. Sorry I always speak in “vague” terms like “coming soon” or “hang tight”… but let’s just say… it’s coming. Soon.
Yeah of course, no worries about the " vague " terms as I understand why you can’t say much yet. Thank you for your heads up and I’m looking forward to this update.
I am also a dedicated Wix user. As a designer, I find Wix to have the best WYSIWYG editor. But other website builders allow you to create a locked, underlying grid to align various elements on a page [Squarespace, for example]. This would be a VERY helpful Wix feature. Wix does have “snap-to” alignment tools, but a grid would be better. I can create a grid using rulers, but iit’s very labor-intensive to create an 8-column grid, for example [ I would have to create at least 16 vertical ruler lines + horizontals, and then do it again on each page of my site.
Second feature request: Wix MUST change the hold music that plays while you are holding on a support call. The current hold music is happy, but it is one musical bar long, it repeats over and over and over again. You can do better.
