BIG BIG problem for the website redesign

Hello Wix technical team
I’m here to tell you about a big website redesign problem.

Indeed many customers come to change website and make a global redesign.
Actually, there is NO possibility at Wix to redesign a website and keep the management data from the account.

Example:
1/a customer to a website with a Premium plan. This client manages their quotes and invoices in the Wix CRM. He uses the inbox to follow up with his prospects …

2/The customer decides to change the website and redo one.
He creates a (new) website and does exactly what is required in Wix Help:
https://support.wix.com/en/article/assigning-a-domain-to-your-wix-site

But by doing THIS:

  • not all contacts are loaded in the new website
  • the entire inbox is empty in the new website
  • all quotes have disappeared in the new website
  • all invoices have disappearedin the new website

!The client therefore simply switched to the graphical environment, but nothing followed!
Clear, So, How to redesign a website with a new Wix site if we cannot save all the defined data ???

There is a real problem that needs to be resolved quickly.

The web market being saturated, 80% of projects are website redesigns, so it is a major issue to ensure that the customer with a Wix solution can migrate from one site to another without having to reconfigure everything. in terms of data management.

Wix Team, what do you propose ?
Because that: https://support.wix.com/en/article/wix-editor-copying-and-pasting-a-page-to-another-site is not a real solution

Thx
Denis

Hi there, when I do my redesigns I copy to the existing pages and do my work on those pages. Client approves the new look and I remove the old pages from the site. This way all the work is being done on their original back end. It’s not perfect but it does work, I do alot of redesigns this way. Hope that helps a bit

Hi Shannah
I’m not a DIY fan, but thx for this method
You agree that it is not optimal …

When you have a new prospect under Wix, very often this last is new so I do not touch his interface and I work on mine.

Then I switch the new website to his account and LA there has to be a real migration! so that we can switch the graphics without losing any data.

I’m really disappointed that Wix never thought of doing this, it seems so basic to me …

The way is to use Velo Local Editor to transfer the pages from new site to old site. Please read: https://support.wix.com/en/article/velo-working-with-the-local-editor

Fair enough! I have been doing it this way for years, different strokes for different folks
