Changed slug to a new page and it's being redirected to the old one

I created a new page with a slug that used to be used for a page that is now deleted. when I search my URL with that slug directly into my browser it says ‘page unavailable’ but when I choose it from my menu it works with that slug.

If you encounter an issue where the old URL is being redirected after changing the page URL in Wix, try the following steps:

  1. Clear your browser cache: It’s possible that the browser has cached the previous URL. Clear the cache and reload the page to fetch the latest version.
  2. Check redirect settings in Wix: Go to Dashboard > SEO > Redirect Manager(Alternatively, you can type “Redirect” into the search box at the top of the dashboard to find the settings). :wink: :+1:

If your Wix page is still redirecting to the old URL after changing the slug, try the following:

Clear Browser Cache

  • Sometimes, browsers may cache old versions of a page, causing discrepancies. Try clearing your browser cache or open the site in Incognito mode to see if the issue persists.

Check the Page Settings

Verify that the new page’s slug is set correctly in the page settings:

  • Go to the Wix Editor.
  • Click on the new page and check the SEO settings.
  • Ensure that the correct slug is assigned under Page URL.

Check for Redirects

  • There may still be a redirect set up for the old slug. Check if there’s a 301 redirect in place from the deleted page to the new one:

    • Go to Settings > SEO (Google) > URL Redirect Manager.
    • Look for any redirects associated with the old URL and remove or modify them.

Thank you so much!! Checking the redirect settings fixed it! The slug I wanted was being redirected to the page I had deleted that used to have the slug I wanted.
