Hello there!
It’s Friday, which means it’s Community Weekly Roundup time. This week is the 10th edition, and we’re packed with updates, things you should know, and events you should take a look at.
You know the drill, let’s hop to it!
Highlights (TL;DR)
- Wix Studio is at Adobe Max Conference - We’ll be live at the Adobe Max conference, and we’d love to see you if you’re there. Are you going to be there?
- Events and activities - We have a range of events and activities coming up over the next couple of weeks, from the first of our Community Events, through to “The Wix Studio homepage: how we built it”
- Plenty of news - The News Centre in the Studio Dashboard is your one-stop shop for all news and announcements, but we’ve got all this week’s updates as part of the Roundup too (there are quite a few! )
From the Community
Celebrating your Studio sites
We kicked off this week by celebrating the Studio sites you’ve all been creating.
For the last 2 months, you’ve been beavering away, learning and building on Studio - some of you attending the in-person events we wrapped up last week. We wanted to give you the opportunity to show off your work and check out the things others in the community have been working on.
If you haven’t had a chance to share a site you’ve built on Studio, be sure to do so in either the Made by the community category, or over on the Wix Studio Community Discord server.

The Wix Studio homepage: how we built it
At this point, I’m sure you’ve all seen the Wix Studio homepage - if you’re like me, you’ve also wondered “How did they do that?” or, “Wow! I wish I knew how to create that scroll effect”.
Well, on 2023-11-15T16:00:00Z, join Wix Studio’s lead designer, Tal Shenkar, for a live deconstruction of the features used to bring the homepage to life. You’re going to get a peek right behind the scenes, a chance to see how everything came together, from the scroll animations to sticky and entrance effects.
Which section of the site are you most interested in learning how it was built?

Wix Studio is at Adobe Max Conference
I’m excited to share that next week, we’re live at Adobe MAX Conference! Who’s going?
You can join us at our session with Shira Nathan and Sivan Fiterman from the Wix Motion Studio who are holding a special session on the challenges and opportunities of working with collaborative teams.
We’ll show you how the Wix Studio brand was built, dive into working with AI, designing with Unreal, empowering creative individuals, and much more.

In other news
Add order manually from the site dashboard
Your clients can now manually add sales or bookings to the Orders tab in their site dashboards. Imagine those times they take an order over the phone, or choose to create a custom product - for example a custom engraved necklace for a client - this it’s what it’s for.
Find out more about manually creating an order here.
Send pay links to charge for Stores or Bookings order
Wix Stores and Bookings site admins can now charge customers for unpaid orders by sending a pay link from their site dashboard.
You can customize a pay link with brand colors and images, and share via email or text message
Read about the different options for charging customers from the orders page - Charging Customers from the Orders Page | Help Center | Wix.com
Accept bookings directly from Google Search and maps
You can now give clients another way to reach customers and take bookings by setting them up with Reserve with Google. Once they’ve submitted business information to Google from the site dashboard and been approved, their business can be found via Google’s search results and maps.
Customers can book services on the spot from Google’s results page, which is pretty cool if you ask me - Wix Bookings: Showing Your Services on 'Reserve with Google' | Help Center | Wix.com
Customize how you calculate and collect tax for eCommerce sites
When working with multiple regions, there may be different tax that needs to be applied per region or group of items.
With new tax collection features, you can:
- Manually group items by category and assign them the correct rate
- Set a tax calculator per region (either manually or using Avalara)
- Create a custom tax calculator with the Tax Service SPI and assign it to its corresponding region
- Add a tax breakdown at checkout to show the different taxes applied to an order
Find out more here - About Tax Collection | Help Center | Wix.com
Grant access to tax documents for Payments Admins
From November 6, just in time for tax season, the Payments Admin role will get an added permission that grants them access to tax documents. This is only applicable for businesses located in the US.
Site or Account Owners and Co-Owners can also create a custom role for teammates or collaborators to grant or revoke this permission as needed. Learn more.
Reschedule participants or add them to a recurring class with Wix Bookings
Wix Bookings site admins can switch a participant from one class to another without canceling and creating a new booking. They can also add a participant to multiple, recurring class sessions at once.
Learn more here.
These next 2 are most relevant to those working with code. We have 2 new SPIs, allowing you to customize the business logic of applications, without rebuilding areas, or apps in full.
Add cart and checkout validations
You can fully customize the cart and checkout experience for client sites using the Validations SPI.
Expand the functionality of the cart and checkout experience. Add a minimum cart value, set quantity limits for items, limit order frequency, verify customers’ ages, validate coupon codes and more.
You can find the reference for this SPI here.
Calculate and add additional fees at checkout
Customize the cart and checkout for client sites using the Additional Fees SPI to introduce additional fees and charges they may need. You can calculate and add on various fees for fragile packaging or handling, shipping insurance, warranties, gift wrapping, carbon offsets and more.
And the reference for this SPI is here.
Lots of exciting and new updates to help clients manage their sites more efficiently. Leave a comment with the update that’s going to be most impactful for your clients
